I finally did some cute lingerie shopping!

I've not been feeling myself lately and I guess I just want to feel...cute? Ahhh I don't know! What I do know is that I have the habit of splurging on myself when I am feeling extremely down.

But anyway, here are some cute lingerie finds. The first one with the rose was sold out before I could get it but it's too cute not to include in this photoset. I will be talking to the seller if we could arrange something so I could carry these babies in my store Dolly Dynamite.

Which are your faves? :D

I just had to do this shoot and some more before I get busy preparing for the new collection for Expo TNT! I am really excited to visit Mexico! Aside from the fact that it's going to be the first international show for dolldelight, I will be able to visit the pyramids of Teotihuacan! I know I don't talk about this a lot but I am such a huge fan of archeology. It has been the reason why I took up anthropology. I think when I get back from the trip, I would find myself wanting to go back to school and finally finish my degree. Then maybe I could backpack and explore the world!

I am really so happy to have been invited to the convention. I get to live two dreams in one trip. :)

Anyway, onto to the pictures!

Island of the Dolls

This is a late Halloween post only because I was out and actually living the adventure during the said holiday! I was invited to be a guest of honor in Expo TNT 26 in Mexico and do a fashion show and a couple of other activities. They flew me in some days before the event. It was a request I made as I was wanting to travel Mexico City. We visited several historical places within the city but one of the highlights of my trip was the Island of the Dolls or Isla de Las Muñecas! I first knew about the place from Destination Truth.

The island was located within the Xochimilco lake. It was about 2 hours ride in a barge locally known as a trajiñera.

I'm going to put up a video of the trip but for now, let's skip to the photos and some storytelling!

This was the entrance to the island. Sr. Julian Santana Barrera was its caretaker and more importantly, the man behind the doll collection.

A variety of old, creepy dolls decorated the island. One story as to why Sr. Julian became obsessed with doll collection was because he was trying to scare away the mermaid who was attempting to lure him into the waters of Xochimilco.

However, I found the other story, maybe even the real story, to be much sadder.

Sr. Anastasio Barrera, the nephew of Sr. Julian, told me that his uncle started to collect dolls to appease the spirit of a little girl who drowned in the waters of the island. He would travel back to the city to collect dolls, sometimes from the garbage, just to bring them back to the island. Eventually, people came and brought dolls to offer to the little girl. This led to a growing collection until Sr. Julian died in the very spot the little girl drowned. From then on, people have come to visit the island. Needless to say, travel channels finally found out about the island and its popularity opened up to the entire world.

The doll with the glasses was a personal favorite of Sr. Julian. It was named Agustina as it was found in August. Visitors offer all sorts of things to her for luck and protection.

My favorite, however, is the oldest doll in the collection. It is the one with the hat and is said to be about 60 years old.

My mom thinks I'm crazy for wanting to come here! But it was such a pleasant experience as the staff who accompanied me were all so very nice and generous. Did I have any "creepy" vibes? By default, the island was really creepy but unfortunately, I did not sense anything paranormal. Though I am still amazed and at the same time freaked out to learn that Sr. Anastasio lives in the island by himself and, according to him, the island is a different story come night time!

Well, maybe I would check it out in the night next time I travel to Mexico! In the end, Xochimilco was a pleasant experience to have just before the convention. It was so tranquil that it energized me for the busy weekend ahead. I will be posting more about that when I feel a lot better. For now, I would really love to thank Expo TNT's kindness and generosity. I've never had that much adventure in my life!

Floral Cross Tutorial

I went to a 99c store way back in April and got myself an entire bunch of wired flowers! I didn't know what to do with them but they were so pretty and cheap I just had to buy! Anyway, I figured out a super simple tutorial where I could use the flowers. I made them into a floral cross:

For this tutorial you would need the following:

That's a bunch of wired roses about an inch big and hot glue. That's it! You won't even need to use that much glue as long as you bend, wrap, and twist as tightly as possible.

1. These roses are made from fabric attached to a wire. I'm pretty sure you could find these in Michael's or any crafts store's wedding section. Whatever flowers you use, keep in mind that you really do need the wire! Start with four pieces.

2. Arrange them as shown above. These roses would comprise your base.

3. Take a rose and wrap it around the center of the base as shown. We shall call this rose the first wrapping rose for reference.

4. Twist the bud around the top portion of the base. Twist the tail around the bottom portion of the base. This should secure the four roses together.

5. Now to make the arms of the cross, take another rose and wrap it around the base as shown above. I used the first rose wrapped around the base as reference. Once it is secured onto the base, twist the tail of the arm around the remaining part of the arm where the rose is attached. This is the back view:

This is the front view.

6. Repeat for the other arm of the base.

Here is how the wrapping and twisting should look like. Take note of the vertex where the first rose used for wrapping and the arms coincide.

7. Use hot glue to secure the arms in place.

8. Add roses by twisting and wrapping around the arm/base, wherever you want to start.

9. Fill the remaining sections.

10. To keep it symmetrical, use the same number of roses for each arm. In this case I have four on each. Keep wrapping and twisting until you filled in all the empty spaces!

And you're done! Fix the rose buds as you please.

This is the back part. You could see how almost everything's held together by wrapping and twisting. Now you could attach this to a necklace or a ring!

Here's mine on a necklace to match my dress:

It's really simple. I hope you like it and use it! If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. :)

Dolly Eye Make Up Tutorial

This is how I do my eye make up. It's basic but hopefully you get a tip or two!

Make Up Used:
L'Oreal Paris True Match Naturale Mineral Foundation
Dolly Wink Eyebrow: Mascara 2. Mocha
Rimmel London Glam Eyes Liquid Eyeliner: Black Glamor
Precision Lash Adhesive
Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner: Bronze
Rimmel Scandaleyes Flex Mascara
Lashes sponsored by Dolluxe: Born to Flirt & Underlash A
Princess Mimi Chocolate Brown sponsored by GeoColouredLenses

1. Prep your eye. This would be the good time to put on your eyelid tape if you have to. I used my L'Oreal Paris True Match Naturale Mineral Foundation as base. I tried primer before but I think powder helps the eyeliner to stay on longer. My lashes look powdered now but don't worry, mascara solves this! I also did my eyebrows so, just go ahead and do yours.

2. Outline your eye as close to the lash line and the outer corner.

3. Time to build up the eyeliner! Thicken the middle and outer corner. I do mine as close to the fold of my eyelid. If you put on eyelid tape, make sure to conceal the tape with the eyeliner.

4. Apply your false eyelashes. Instead of applying it close to the lash line, what I like to do is apply it to the edge of the outline.

5. Draw a wing from the outer corner of your eye. Use the tip of your eye brow to gauge the length of the wing.

6. Apply the bottom lashes. Again, I do not put mine close to the lash line but instead, I align it to the inner corner of the wing.

5. Apply mascara to your upper lashes and eyeliner to the water line. ALL DONE!

Casey's Cupcakes

I finally decided to get out for some sunshine. I went to one of my favorite places in Irvine, The Spectrum. The highlight of the day was visiting Casey's Cupcakes as I specifically planned my outfit for it!

Luckily, the store owner Casey Reinhardt stopped by just as we came to the store! :D

I just match this place, don't I? I really loved my Romwe cupcake sweater and suspender skirt! A lot of people liked theHello Kitty Tights I was wearing. I'm so glad I have finally gotten used to carrying business cards around. Having a cute Bunny Bag fromJuizy Woozy sure helps!

Everything was so pretty! I couldn't bring myself to eat any of it! XD But I did today, I had some for breakfast and it was so good!

The outfit was also a way to finally wear the big mint bow I've made ages ago. I wore my Gothic Lolita Wigs Rhapsody in Rose to complete the look!

And yes, there was this really huge and cute Christmas tree inside the store! I might be coming back to do a Christmas themed shoot. Speaking of Christmas, I bought a couple of things from a really cute Korean store called ArtBox. I'm not sure if I am going to keep these to myself or give them away but, let's just say I finally started some Christmas shopping!

Ahhh, I almost forgot! I did take some videos of this trip. I just need to edit the clips and then I'll be able to show you a day in my life, hehe. :)
