Oh my. After such a long time of not posting, here I am, finally! I am so sorry if I kept delaying the announcement for my previous Pink Parade giveaway. So without further ado, our Pink Parade winners are:

For our Anime Expo winners, they will be receiving circle lenses from K-CircleLens.Net and BB Cream sachets from AsianFashionCity.Com.

Yey, that's it! I am planning another giveaway soon, as in maybe after this post, so stay tuned! So what has been keeping me up? Well, you could easily guess it if you follow www.dolldelight.com. The recent months have been so crazy for me. I have fashion shows lined up after fashion shows. The biggest one I have done was Anime Expo. I will write about that in a bit. For now, let me share photos from my day out with my boyfriend. I wore my Hime Gyaru look to see The Amazing Spider-Man with him!

Review: UNIQSO iFairy Kirei Brown

Time for some circle lens review. This pair was generously sponsored by Uniqso.

ABOUT THE SHOP

When I was asked to choose my pair of lenses, I thought it would be difficult to choose from their wide selection. I didn't know what I wanted, but one thing was for sure, I wanted it to be HUGE! I was so glad that they categorize their products according to brand, color, and yes, diameter. It became easy to finally decide (though admittedly, I wanted all of them!) on one of the 16mm lenses, that being the iFairy Kirei Brown. It seemed to have a unique color to it, basing on the stock photos. I was really excited to get them. The admin of the shop was very nice and accommodating. I received my package in about 3 weeks. It came with a free lens case.

 ABOUT THE LENSES

Brand: iFairy Kirei
Color: Brown - Though they appear to fade into green. Very vibrant, even in dim lighting.
Size: 16mm - These are really huge. If worn without make up, these kind of look weird. But if you are going for a dramatic look, this pair is perfect.
Design: The outer ring is thick enough to outline the eyes. The black speckles allow the lenses to blend naturally with my eyes.
Comfort: I wore them the entire day when I went to see The Amazing Spider-Man. Did not dry nor itch.
Verdict: These are probably one of the prettiest lenses I have worn. They make me want to try the other iFairy series.
Other: My lenses come with prescription. I am -3.50 for both eyes.

Here are some of the photos I took wearing the said lenses. I went out in my Hime Gyaru dress and headpiece, which I made months ago. If you want to see more of my designs, please visit www.dolldelight.com. And yes, I wore a wig from Gothic Lolita Wigs!

Review: GEOCOLOUREDLENSES.COM Cafe Mimi Waffle Grey

ABOUT THE SHOP

Geocolouredlenses.com was generous enough to sponsor me 3 lenses from the GEO, the leading brand for circle lenses. The store offers all the different series under the said brand. The team is quick to reply to inquiries. Shipping is fast and reliable too.

ABOUT THE LENSES

Brand: GEO
Series: Cafe Mimi Waffle
Color: Grey - Though these have a golden-brownish center that blends well with the iris.
Size: 15mm - These appear huge because of their thick outer ring.
Design: Really pretty, though the design does not show much on the eyes. I wish the golden brown hues were a bit more vibrant.
Comfort: Sad to say, these are the most uncomfortable lenses I have ever worn. This honestly came as a surprise since I have worn GEO for as long as I have worn circle lenses. It feels thick and heavy on the eyes. I was able to put them on for about 10 minutes. It was a struggle to take photos with them since I can't seem to open my eyes.
Verdict: I wish the style would be remade into a more comfortable one! I own other GEO lenses and they don't feel anything like the CMW Grey. Back track and you would find my reviews for The Princess Mimi Series (Chocolate Brown, Sesame Grey) - my absolute favorites!
Other: My lenses come with prescription. I am -3.50 for both eyes.

There we go! If you're wondering why I am all dressed up, it is because I had a video and photo shoot today! I would be posting more about it soon, but you could get updates on my fashion shows and projects on www.dolldelight.com. Dress and headpiece made by me, wig by GothicLolitaWigs.Com.

This is such a late post! I had a photoshoot with Anthony back in May. We went to a Japanese garden in Long Beach, California. It was my first time to travel to do a photoshoot, ever since I have moved here in the US. It was also my first time working with my boyfriend as photographer. I had two outfits for that, and this was the first one.

Just a quick rundown of what I was wearing:
Lavender Garden Dress Set, made by me. Visit www.dolldelight.com for more of my work.
Rhapsody in Lavender, sponsored by GothicLolitaWigs.Com
EOS King Size in Purple, sponsored by K-Circlelens.Net

Thank you for looking! :)

Meandering Memories

I think I am inherently lonely.

Or maybe, it's just the extra surge of female hormones that plague me just before I get my period. Whatever the case is, tonight I dwell in the darkest of my thoughts. No, I do not mean death. I just mean sorrow, and the inability to freely express it to another soul, to one that knows me, that is. I could write this down now knowing you all are anonymous. I am made ignorant of my audience and I take comfort in that.

My heart is mute when it comes to being honest about feelings, particularly when it comes to mine. I do not know why but I could not seem to truly open myself up. Do not get me wrong though, the friendship that I offer is sincere... But even with the closest of my friends, I could not say that I am sad. Or maybe I could. It is the "why" that I always fail to communicate.

Maybe because I myself do not know why.

If I try to put it into words, my kind of sorrow is the feeling of loss and uncertainty. I guess I could say that I am sad because I lost my dog. I guess I could say I am sad because I am not sure with the things I have chosen to do in my life. But even when I have written it, it feels there is so much more to it. So much more... It weighs down my soul.

I think I am lost in my own garden of gloom.

Long time no post! I can't believe how crazy my schedule has become. I have done a shoot before this one, but I'll have this posted first since I like it more, hehe. I did a photo and video shoot with my boyfriend at this historic place called San Juan Capistrano Mission. Google it up for more photos of the said location. If you are local, I would love to do a shoot with you here! I am definitely coming back to this pretty place.

So what did I wear? Initially I wanted my purple dolly kei-ish ensemble but I was not too sure with the shoes. I had been lucky to receive a pair of Kitoro Wedges (pictured below) from www.mode-5.comand I was just aching to do a shoot with them! I settled with my tattered dress because the shoes seemed like they were made for that dress! Oh, if you want to grab a pair with a 20% off, please use code: dolldelight! You are free to use that code in any shopping you might want to do inwww.mode-5.com. I swear, they carry tons of cute clothing and shoes, not to mention they have a super fast shipping and extremely helpful customer service! <3

Of course I could not shoot with just a dress and a pair of shoes! I made little clips with tattered fabric and lace, buttons, and butterflies and arranged them into a headband on my wig sponsored by GothicLolitaWigs.com.

Before I forget, I made a video for a campaign. I am teaming up with a crowdfunding company to help get my brand started for real. Please do not hesitate to join: Dolldelight Campaign. <3

So enough with the babbling, here are the photos you must see, teehee!

Finally found my Holy Grail for AWESOME Skin!

$

Could you believe that picture? That's a full on face, fresh from the camera, non-edited shot, something I am not usually comfortable with because I am conscious whether my skin would look flaky or not. To be honest, I do not have bad skin, but that does not necessarily mean I have good skin 100% of the time. If you have been following www.dolldelight.com, you would know how I tend to not sleep because of sewing! That's not so bad when I know I could get enough sleep the next day. But sometimes I need to go running to do shoots and even, scariest of all, TV appearances! In the morning, I would then realize how I should not have stayed up so late because my skin would reflect just that! If you lack sleep or are sick, you would notice how make-up, particularly foundation (cream/liquid/powder) would just build up on your skin and not be absorbed. You often end up with what I call a "thick" face. Not so bad when you have Photoshop to correct it (yeah, let's get real people). But really, sometimes, I cannot stand the heaviness of the guck I need to pile on my face to conceal skin unevenness and dark circles. I also came to realize that I am 20+ already, and that what I do to my skin now would probably add up to how worse or better it becomes. That's why I decided to one day walk into a beauty store and pick up some skin goodies. I had a local one that sold Korean cosmetics. If you are from Orange County, definitely visit that store! (I don't know the name because it was written in Han-geul, but it's near Ajisen Ramen, in Diamond Jamboree, Irvine).

I have never tried facial masks before, so I wanted to get into a daily regimen that involved them. I picked the BRTC Rice Stem Cell Mask for 25$ for 5 masks and the Collagen Repair Pack for 35$. I thought it was a cream but I finally googled for directions in English and found out it was a wash after mask. When I was at the register, I asked the lady what she could suggest for dry skin. I told her I used Skin79 Gold Label (generously sponsored bywww.asianfashioncity.com). She suggested that I try the Collagen Mist from Clio sold for 25$, so my skin would better absorb the bb cream. I was not looking to spend as much as 85$ but I gave in anyway because the ladies of the store all had pretty skin. LOL! If you are on a tight budget though, I suggest you try Yes to Tomatoes! I ordered it fromZappos for 14.99$ but I had a 15$ coupon with me, thanks to my boyfriend, and shipping was free so I spent not a dime on it. I decided to include it in my regimen since it was basically a mask too.

On to the masks, I first tried BRTC and spent 2 hours letting the mask dry on my face. My skin felt moisturized afterwards but I also wanted to try the collagen mask, which I thought was a cream then. I applied it and slept with it on. It was sticky but I was watching a movie so I just ignored it until I finally went to bed. I washed it in the morning and was so happy with the silky feeling! I've always been suspicious regarding the effectiveness of beauty products (and that's why it took me this long to finally start and keep and regimen) but this stuff worked. Since I've been lucky with the two other products, I decided to spray on the collagen mist before applying my bb cream. It had a nice scent but I would prefer for it to not have any at all. My Skin79 Gold Label bb cream was indeed easier to apply. I was surprised at how the products seemed to work. I searched about these products and that's when I found out that the collagen pack was a mask and not a cream!

Yes, I have obviously (ab)used it! It had a nice smell, too. And I do feel that my skin gets nourished with it.

Yes to Tomatoes is the cheapest product in my regimen but I love it as much! It has a refreshing, minty feeling to it once applied. It's perfect for the current warm weather. It is actually part of an anti acne line so I suggest you use this if you are prone to breakouts.

Finally I get the right coverage from my bb cream, all thanks to this collagen mist! I think it serves as a good primer. I will try this next time with my heavier foundation from Revlon.

If you have noticed, I have been using the products as a step by step regimen. I do not know if each becomes more effective because of the other, but I do not mind investing on them, as they are mostly collagen products. Collagen is known to hydrate and improve the elasticity of the skin and I think that's what I need most.

I am not really one to hype up a product, particularly a beauty product since everyone's skin is unique and has its own needs. I do understand, however, how women want to maintain or improve their skin, so I am giving my opinion on the ones I've personally tested. I have been doing this regimen for a week now, and so far, I have not broken out. I will be keeping up with it and look for other improvements. I would probably add to it a product that helps with dark circles since I stay up late so much.

If you are interested with my circle lenses, these are Vassen Cloud Grey, sponsored by Pinky Paradise. I would be writing the review next time!

 Hurrrr. Kinda creepy. I know.

But these lens sponsored by Pinky Paradise are fast becoming my favorite, so on to the review!

ABOUT THE SHOP

Pinky Paradise is one of the best known online store for circle lenses. The store boasts of over 600+ different styles, ranging from cosplay to fashion. Believe me, it was really hard to choose which pair I wanted, so I was glad they were generous enough to give me two! It was also nice shopping in their stores since most lenses are readily available and they ship as fast as 1-3 days. I took a look around and found out they carried eye make up like false eyelashes too. Pinky Paradise is definitely your  one-stop eye make up online beauty store!

ABOUT THE LENSES

Brand: Vassen
Series: Cloud Nine
Color: Grey - These are the truest grey lenses I have ever worn. The color is opaque so they definitely show even with my dark brown eyes. These are opaque enough to look really odd without make up.
Size: 14.5mm - I have worn bigger lenses, but I enjoy these as much. They do look bigger because of the outer ring.
Design: The outer ring is thick enough to outline the eyes. The simplicity of the design also makes your pupil look smaller, and your iris bigger.
Comfort: I have been wearing them to my shoots, and have worn them for over a day. Not a problem with these lenses at all!
Verdict: Totally in love with the color, despite how creepy they could look. I think this pair suits dramatic make up best.
Other: My lenses come with prescription. I am -3.50 for both eyes.

Pinky Paradise also gave me a coupon for YOU to use! It's dolldelight and you could use it whenever you want. You get a cute animal lens case and a mystery gift if you do! How awesome is that. <3

How To: Free Stuff (ROMWE)

$

Here are the fabulous dresses I got for FREE from Romwe! I have been in their fashion blogger program for about a month now. So far, I could say that I have been loving their selection of dresses which they update every single day. As for shipping, I could not guarantee a specific time frame since it varies from about a month to as little as a week. I think the availability of the products contribute to delay since most of them get sold out quickly. With my first order, I waited about a month before they confirmed shipment, which is free by the way. They seemed to have waited for another dress that was part of my order until their supplier informed them that the dress would not be in stock soon. My following orders, however, have been processed really quickly. I could track the packages and sometimes it took about 2 days for them to arrive in the US. The waiting process resumes once in California as imported packages have to go through the sorting facilities. The store often has good deals and sales which as a fashion blogger, one should promote in their respective social networks. You get a gift card in exchange and that's how I was able to accumulate these lovely dresses in as short as a month!

So how do you get to become a fashion blogger?

Romwewould usually send a newsletter about the program (if you opted for it) and so far, the basic requirement is the number of readers/followers you have. In their current newsletter, they have been looking for individuals who have about 100,000 fans (I believe this is in Facebook) and or about 8000 blog followers. The program requires you to be active in fashion and photography. In my case, I only had about 70,000 fans in Facebook but I went and tried anyway, and so should you, especially if fashion is your cup of tea. Just browse their site and look for the fashion blogger program. Send them a message containing the number of followers for every social networking sites you participate in. Inform them about your target audience and what you are passionate about. Like any store, Romwe wants to get their products out there so someone who is visible and active in the fashion scene is a big plus to their program. If you think you qualify or would work hard to qualify, then go ahead and email them. It's free to try anyway!

ABOUT THE SHOP

GECOLOUREDLENSES.COM was generous enough to sponsor me 3 lenses from the GEO, the leading brand for circle lenses. The store offers all the different series under the said brand. The team is quick to reply to inquiries. Shipping is fast and reliable too.

ABOUT THE LENSES

Brand: GEO
Series: XTRA Lavender
Color: Dark grey that appears bluish.
Size: 15mm - These appear huge because of their thick outer ring.
Design: I consider this a simple design. I like how it blends well with the pupil, instead of having just a clean hole that frames the pupil.
Comfort: These are extremely comfortable, the way I have known Geo lenses should be. I guess there must have been a different in the thickness when they developed my other pair from GEOCOLOUREDLENSES.COM, the pretty but irritating Cafe Mimi Waffle Grey.
Verdict: I love grey lenses, and I love how comfortable Geo ones are. I wish they came in a lighter grey though, kind of like the ones with Princess Mimi. The kind of grey this pair has does not show much, unless in ample light. The design, however, is subtle and could pass as a good enlarging pair of black lens. Back track and you would find my reviews for The Princess Mimi Series (Chocolate Brown, Sesame Grey) - my absolute favorites!
Other: My lenses come with prescription. I am -3.50 for both eyes.

And oh, if you liked my outfit, you could read about how I got it for free from ROMWE in this post.

SUGARLIPS: Chenoa Tribal Dress, SHOPLATELY: Glint & Gleam

If you have been reading my posts, you would know that I have entered all these fashion blogger programs. Today we will talk about Sugarlips andShoplately.

I have been fortunate to receive my first chiffon dress from Sugarlips which I reviewed here. They asked me to review another one and this time I chose a high low hem dress, the Chenoa Tribal Dress. Before we get to the dress, I would just like to commend them for having grown so much as an online store! I loved how they levelled up to this kind of packaging. I am such a sucker for black boxes and receiving my dress in it has been such a treat. It looks so professional and just lovely:

Needless to say, I was so excited to try on my dress and snap pictures! But I just had to wait for a couple of things, my Shoplately necklace and GoJane spiked heels! The necklace was such as steal as I only got it for 13$. They have awesome deals for accessories so please do check them out. I also wore my star tattoo tights for this shoot. I have been contemplating about how they would look from afar, but I don't think they are that bad, are they? Once completed, I dragged my boyfriend for a shoot! ;)

This is such a different look for me! And oh yeah, that tiara is the necklace I got from Shoplately. What do you think?

Bandage Bow Tutorial

$

0
I first published this post a year ago, here is the original link if you wish to reblog: Bandage Bow Tutorial.
This is perfect for you if you love sewing but hate wasting fabric scraps. XD

I remembered about it when I was thinking of making a new headpiece for this particular dress. I wanted to make another one for the upcoming Pacific Media Expo fashion show this weekend. It had to keep with the theme of the dress which is tatteredness. I liked the idea of making the bandage bow again, but it had to be a bit different. Anyway, let me first walk you through the steps of how to make your own bandage bow. I will then show the modifications I made to my own bow.

MATERIALS:

1. Fusible interfacing
2. Muslin cloth
3. Shears
4. Iron
5. Sewing machine or a needle and thread (handstitch)
6. Fabric glue (optional)

STEPS:

1. Cut the interfacing into 3 rectangles. You’re free to use your preferred size but they have to vary in measurements. Make sure you are working with the stick-on side, you could determine this by bringing the sheet to a light source. The stick-on’s side is shiny and looks like it has dried glue all over it. Take the two bigger pieces and fold them in half. These would be your bow parts. Do the same for the smallest rectangle. This would serve as the middle strip that would hold the two bigger pieces together. Sew edges together. Open up the pieces and fold them again, this time positioning the stitched edges on the middle.

2. Prepare your strips of cloth. For this tutorial, I used Muslin since it’s light and frays rather well, makes for a good torn bandages effect. Again, you are free to cut these strips in whatever size you want them. Just make sure that most of them could be wrapped around the entire piece.

3. Take a piece and start “mummifying” it. There are no rules in wrapping, only that the strips or even just parts of it come into contact with the piece, especially if you are layering them. Remember that the strips get attached to the piece by the stick-on side. Be creative and see to it that you achieve your desired effect.

4. Once you have arranged your strips, it is time to iron them down. If you have correctly sewn the pieces earlier, you would find that the strips fuse with the interfacing! Continue ironing until several of the strips stick to the piece. For those that didn’t stick, you could use fabric glue or you could even leave them loose and hanging as this still contributes to the bandage effect.

5. Do the same for the backside of the piece. Since you wrapped the strips all around the piece, you would see that the back is almost done. You could add more layers and iron them down.

6. Continue mummifying and ironing all the pieces.

7. Now this has to be the tricky part. If you have your own way of constructing bows, go ahead and skip this step. If you don’t, here’s how I do it: Position the smaller piece over the bigger piece. This is the bow’s front side. Have them overlap for about 2-3 inches at the top. Make the folds: For single layer folds, I used pink pins. For the double layer, yellow pins. Fold the topmost part of the smaller piece. Pin. Fold another section, this time include the bigger piece (and this why I called it double layer as you are folding a section of the smaller piece and section of the bigger piece all at the same time). Do two of these double layer folds. Pin. Finally, resume to single layer folds. Do two of this using the bottom part of the bigger piece.

8. Once you have folded and pinned these sections, bring them altogether to the middle. Use the smaller rectangle piece as a band to hold the bigger pieces together. Turn your bow to the back side and pin the ends of the band together. Sew.

9. Remove all the pins. You could choose to leave your bow like this, with all the strips loose and hanging.

10. Or you could clean it up a bit, cut the excess and “texturize” the strips. You could do this by cutting the strips with a pair of dull scissors or the tip of your shears. Once done, attach the bow to a clip or headband.

And voila, you’re all done! Now this bow is like a blank canvas. Several other things could be done to improve it.

SUGGESTIONS
1. For Guro Lolita, you could use fabric paint to mimic bloodstains.
2. For an antique Victorian doll look, you could use coffee to make your bow look old and worn out.
3. You could also try burning the edge of the strips for an interesting effect.

UPDATE
About my new bow, I decided to make it into a Frankenbow! Instead of cutting the fabric into strips, I had it in random shapes. I also made use of another fabric which was lace. Finally, I added a decorative stitch that looks like surgical stitches.

I cannot wait to pair it with this dress:

See you at the fashion show! :D

DOLLDELIGHT Fashion Show at PMX

I've often said that if there was such a convention that I would consider my birthday, it has to be Pacific Media Expo/ PMX. It was the first US con I have ever attended as a guest and it truly opened up a lot of doors for me and for my work. All of the fashion shows, TV appearances, and newspaper features I have had the pleasure to be involved in were all because of that one con that gave me the chance to share my work. It was really great to be back this year and to be part of the con's major events. I had the opportunity to showcase my very own dolldelight designs and to model for the most prestigious Lolita brand, BABY, The Stars Shine Bright! For this post, I will share with the photos of my models who wore dresses and accessories made by me. Enjoy!

Special thanks to Erskine Noel for all the photos!

I am so glad to have been able to model for Baby again! They are biggest Lolita brand in the world. It has been such an honor to be chosen for their show. A while back, I modeled for them for Anime Matsuri. It has been my first time to wear brand, and it was nothing short of magical! Before I started making my own clothes and accessories, I have dreamed of one day being able to see a Baby dress up close. Needless to say, Baby is that one brand that inspired me to create. I was never a Sweet Lolita, maybe I was never even a true blue Lolita, but it is the aesthetic of the said fashion that has led me to designing dresses the way I do now. Anyway, I am just going to keep this short and sweet and leave you with the photos (and some caption)! :)

ANIME MATSURI 2012

I submitted the last photo to Pacific Media Expo when they were doing a model casting for Baby. I was able to see this particular photo in Masumi Kano's, Baby's designer, list of models. I think that this photo led me to getting assigned to another pink dress... Pink has never really been my color, but my lord, the dress was beyond gorgeous!

And here the photos of two more models! The bunny girl, Audry, has also been one of my dolldelight models.

And then, the finale dress! Baby has always ended their fashion show with a bridal lolita. So elegant and heavenly!

I will try to get more photos of the other models! I am really picky with which photos to post (because I want them always high quality LOL) plus I don't know the other girls so... XD But I'd leave you the fashion show videos in the end. Anyway, group picture!

And finally, a bit of chitchat with the designer, Masumi Kano. I first met her during the Anime Matsuri show and I was just really quiet the whole time. I am so glad she remembered me! We talked about doing Anime Matsuri for 2013. I am really excited to see her again! I don't know if I would get to model for Baby for the third time, but I simply want to see her! She is such a sweet girl.
