Review: GEOCOLOUREDLENSES.COM Cafe Mimi WMM-506

ABOUT THE SHOP

GECOLOUREDLENSES.COM was generous enough to sponsor me 3 lenses from the GEO, the leading brand for circle lenses. The store offers all the different series under the said brand. The team is quick to reply to inquiries. Shipping is fast and reliable too.

ABOUT THE LENSES

Name: Latte
Brand: GEO
Series: Cafe Mimi
Color: Dark Brown to Golden Brown to Yellow. hints of Grey. The colors are not so opaque so they did not fully show on my dark eyes, except for the really light yellow part.
Size: 15mm - These appear medium-sized because of their dark brown outer ring. Had it been black, the lenses would seem larger.
Design: True to its name, it does appear like some yummy liquid. The design is beautiful, but since I have dark eyes, I wasn't really able to benefit from it.
Comfort:  Super comfortable, the way I've known Geo lenses to be!
Verdict: These are natural looking lenses. Maybe I have been so used to wearing lenses with really obvious outer ring that I consider these not so dolly. I do wonder how these would look on really light eyes though. I would still wear this pair because of its comfort.
Other: My lenses come with prescription. I am -3.50 for both eyes.

Up next I would be reviewing Princess Mimi series! I have the Almond, and the new addition to the series - Starmish Grey and Brown!

Lace Kitty Ears + My Wardrobe I

I finally got into making the kitty ears I have been imagining for sometime now. I decided to make them from a lace dress that was supposed to be size S, but even my sister who was about an M could not wear it. It was just too huge at the neckline! I did contemplate whether I should simply sell it, but the lace was of the cluny type, and it was so lovely. I sacrificed the sleeves of the dress for my then experiment, and this was what I was able to make from it:

So cute, right? I still have the dress which is now sleeveless. I am thinking of making bunny ears from the rest of it. I do want bows but I think I've just made so much bows in my life that I want to try some other type of headpiece! A bonnet would also be cute, but I don't think it's that wearable. Anyway, I decided to use my cat ears with my dresses. Here is a little peak of what I have in my wardrobe.

Dresses care of Romwe.
Shoes care of Oasap.
Cross accessory care of Shoplately.
Tattoo tights from eBay.

There we go! Which did you like best? I really like wearing tattoo tights with my dresses, but I haven't found any design as good as the one I have. I hope they come up with bigger prints since most of the tights have tiny little cute things that just don't register well in the camera. /rant

Next time, I'll post another batch, hopefully with a new pair of tattoo tights!

SHOPLATELY: Emilie M Handbag

Have you gone shopping for Christmas? I've spent a bit of my time looking for gifts I could send to my lovelies. My Mom, for example, loves bags and I just had to find her the perfect one! One shop I've been frequenting wasShoplately and finally, I found a very simple yet stylish handbag for her!

The bag, Blair Large Satchel w/ Detachable Shoulder Strap - Green Lizard, is from Emilie M, one of the shops you could find in Shoplately. I guess the color attracted me the most. It is difficult to find the right kind of green, especially when it comes to bags. It also helps that the shoulder strap is detachable. It makes a very versatile accessory to one's outfit. Needless to say, I just had to find the perfect look to flaunt that bag. I ended up with a green dress from Romwe

Is it too much green? I enjoy the unique vividness this outfit has! Also, I am really digging the Mrs. Lovett look, so... ;P

Anyway, since we're on the subject of holiday shopping, let me share to you a secret! Shoplately awards you with 5$ credit if you sign up with your Facebook! And you know what, the 5 bucks could get you something like this fabulous rings worth only 4.50$ each!

So, what are you waiting for?Sign up and start spending!

If you're wondering where part 1 is, it's here.

Since I can't devote time to do an outfit of the day post as religiously as I wanted to, I decided to take snaps of my favorite outfits! I would probably do this about twice a month, depending on how many new clothes I get from my sponsors. Anyway, here they are!

Dresses and black bag care of Romwe.
Green bag care of Shoplately.
Shoes: GoJane, TJ Maxx
Jacket care of Indressme.
Blazer: Forever21.
Tights: eBay
Kitty ears made by me.

As you can see, I love dresses! I think a dress is the most comfortable garment ever. What do you think? Which one is your favorite?

Fairy Dust

Had a minishoot with a new dress I made, Fairy Dust, at Jamboree! I had the pictures taken at this macaron place called Bon Epi.

I kind of wish I stayed there and took more photos. I took some outside the store and the lighting wasn't as good. I need good lighting to look decent. lol Oh well, I'll probably just shoot the dress again so I could show the pretty fairy print. I am not so big with pink but I still want the dress seen.

Yeah, took me sometime to edit the last  photos. I wanted them bright without washing out the colors and the print but guhhh... You could tell I just sucked at it. An indoor shoot next time, definitely. u___u

I think this is my favorite look ever! What do you think? :D

Palace of Fine Arts

I have just returned from my trip to North California. I was invited to be a guest of honor for a local convention called Sacanime but I'll be writing about my experience next time. For now, let me share with you a new discovery - the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco! It has to be the grandest location I have ever seen. I am already itching to go back there and shoot my dresses! It was a bit of an unexpected trip and had I known it was going to be that beautiful, I would have brought my best creations.

I hardly wear my real hair! The cool weather has done magic to it though, so I decided to use it for this shoot.

This is the probably the spot I look forward to seeing again the most. The stairs would make such a lovely image once a model or maybe I pose on it with a long flowing gown!

Ahhh, I definitely want to be back! And if one day I become a super duper billionaire, it would be a dream to purchase this lovely palace!

Lavender Loveliness

This is such a late post! I had a photoshoot with Anthony back in May. We went to a Japanese garden in Long Beach, California. It was my first time to travel to do a photoshoot, ever since I have moved here in the US. It was also my first time working with my boyfriend as photographer. I had two outfits for that, and this was the first one.

Just a quick rundown of what I was wearing:
Lavender Garden Dress Set, made by me. Visit www.dolldelight.com for more of my work.
Rhapsody in Lavender, sponsored by GothicLolitaWigs.Com
EOS King Size in Purple, sponsored by K-Circlelens.Net

Thank you for looking! :)

Gone Goth

Goth has always been the most intriguing subculture ever formed. I think it is human nature to be curious and be drawn to something mysterious. While I have never been a true-blue goth as I prefer to experiment with a variety of looks, Goth to me is a classic kind of beauty. Fortunately, I have been sponsored pieces of clothing that would let me explore the fashion.

Black Mesh Dress, Pleather Tube, Pleather Skirt sponsored by Romwe.
The Sophisticated. This look would be perfect for a formal gathering. You could tone down the lipstick into nude, leave the bow, and become the lady elegant in black. Still, I prefer to do mine dramatic!

Speaking of the spiky bow, let me proudly tell you that I made it. I've been working on a lot of commissions lately so I only have time to work on tiny pieces. If you want one for yourself, please don't hesitate to message me in my page.

Skull Top sponsored by IndressMe. Pleather Skirt sponsored by Romwe.
The Sassy. Go out with friends feeling extra cute and still be edgy with this look! Skulls has always been a motif of Gothic fashion and a skull as huge as this would definitely have people's attention.

Not only is this top fashionable, it's also warm and comfy. Play a laid back look and yet remain cute and edgy!

Spiky Bra, Pleather Skirt sponsored by Romwe
The Sexy. While I am one of those people who have never gone clubbing before, I think this look would be a perfect night out fashion statement. The studs would definitely make you the highlight of the night. Of course, better wear with in a warmer weather!

Black lipstick, defined eyes. These have been the trademark make up of both guys and gals who enjoy the Gothic fashion. If you're looking for a black lippie, try NYX's Blackberry.

So that's about it for Goth themed photoshoot. Which look did you like best?

Dark Mori Girl Attempt

It's been a while since I last used my antlers. Since I am in an experimental stage as to what I am producing for the 2013 collection, I decided to try my hand at dark mori girl. I think I missed a few points as I did not create the dress with more layers, and then used my prototype cage skirt, which has a more erololita influence rather than mori girl. I even regret wearing for the most part of the shoot. I was not pleased with it as it made taking photos a bit of a challenge, especially that I was wearing my antlers. I use my camera's timer to take my portraits but the hoops kept bumping against my tripod. Still, the cage skirt would be a concept I would attempt to perfect. Hopefully I am able to build one that looks more stable.

Anyway, on to the pictures! Please be reminded that the dress, antlers, and cage skirt are made by Yours Truly. I am currently open for commissions, should you want a dress or accessory. I would also be uploading finished dress on my store, so please check it out: http://dolldelight.storeenvy.com.

Excuse the red spots on my cheekbone and chin. I've been trying out different products lately, the Clarisonic Plus and Trilogy's Rose Hip Oil. I know the oil causes me to break out, but I just wanted to try it with the Clarisonic. It is a really good moisturizer only my skin seems to be sensitive to it. :(

I tried better full body shots, believe me. And these were the best ones in the bunch. XD It really was a disaster shooting with something heavy on your head and with something that just dangles and bumps things.

What do you think of my eye make up? I like how I was able to outline my eyes without looking like a raccoon! I prefer to do the smokey lower line now because it seems to distract from my dark circles...or maybe the new product I am using is starting to work?

I've got to admit, I have always been so conscious of my dark circles. :( I think they are hereditary though, the sickly, sunken eye look. But I have been using Clarisonic Opal, an eye massaging device for wrinkles which claims to also work for eye puffiness and even dark circles. Honestly, I am itching to return the product so I could just spend the money on fabrics. But then, it seems to be working! I did not have to photoshop away the dark circles this time. I guess life really is a matter of give and take. I give a lot of my time working late at night into jobs that strain my eyes, couple that with what I think is a genetic tired eye look. But hey, I am starting to believe that I found a miracle product!

So there you have it! Have you used any of the items I mentioned in this post? Also, have you tried the dark mori look? What do you think of the cage skirt?

Out There Orange

Wow, I've almost forgotten about this set. XD I shot this along with the Gone Goth entry. I wanted to try a more casual, and even sexy look. lol Anyway, pictures ahead!

Humongous sweater and minishorts, contrary to what most people think, I usually dress up laid back. If I am not in dresses, I would most definitely be in shorts! I don't know why, but I had grown up disliking pants. I don't want anything hugging my legs. XD Tights are okay because they are sheer, but heavy stretchable denim? NO WAY!

Isn't this sweater the coolest! You could get it from my sponsor, IndressMe!

Oooh shiny spikes! The Spiky Bra was sponsored by Romwe. Some have asked me whether it scratches my skin or not, well, it is actually okay since the spikes are not sharp.

And yeahhh... XD Don't ask me why but I just wanted to try out. Really. I guess I have been to used to seeing myself all cluttered up within clothing. Now that I've tried it, I think I might release something Ero Lolita inspired for my collection. XD Anyway, please excuse the shapelessness. I got a corset to start waist training but I found out that it was also shapeless. I was really, really looking forward to reviewing and sharing it with you. But it's all wrapped up and ready to be returned now. If you're wondering, I got an underbust corset from Corset Story for around 75$, I think. Well I guess you get what you pay for. I will just try to save up for Isabella Corsetry and get myself a custom one.

And since we are on the topic of waist training, I would like to clear up once and for all that I am not trying to be skinny, nor do I want to be. I am actually wanting fats on my hips and maybe, boobs? XD But yeah, I am all for curvy women. The reason I am getting a waist-training corset is to shape my waist. Other than that, my parts remain as they are. I know you might have heard about the dangers of the process, but I am a true believer of keeping everything in balance and not going onto the extremes. I start at a 25-26 inches for my waist and I plan to go down as 19 inches. And then, that's it. I am not scared of the process as the human female body has been created to allow for the shifting of organs within, a natural tendency during pregnancy. So there you have it, my two cents on waist training! Hopefully I am able to save up enough and fast to do a corset review and/or journal. I was wanting to start this year with it but I guess I have to wait.

Floral Crown Tutorial

$

Today I am going to walk you through to my version of the floral crown. It's one of the headpieces that matches a lot of fashion styles, be it goth to sweet. Let's do it!

Materials:

2 Bouquets of Plastic Flowers
Measuring Tape
Head Form or your Head

I bought the flowers from Michael's Art and Crafts store. These are available in white, red, and peace. There are other flowers aside from roses so be sure to check them out especially that spring is coming.

I am not using wires for this tutorial because the flowers themselves have it. These are actually pretty cool because you bend and twist them as you like. The stems would function as connectors in making our crown.

STEPS:

Measure the circumference of your head. Since I am going to be wearing a wig with mine, I allotted two more inches.

Prepare four big pieces of flowers. These are going to be the "pillars" of our crown.

Twist the heads around each other.

Do the same to the other pair. Now we are going to connect these.

Use a smaller flower to connect each pair. Make sure that you space them enough to accommodate the measurement of your head. You could use as many rose connections as you want to achieve that.

Do the same to the other pair. Complete your circle.

Use the remaining flowers. Wrap them around the connections, creating a dense crown.

This is how it should look as you go along. Use the stems to reinforce the crown by wrapping them around the connections.

And you're done! I decorated mine with clip-on butterflies. :D

What do you think? Really easy, right? If you have questions, please go ahead and share them in the comments section. :)

I decided to be behind the lens for this shoot. It was a concept I have always wanted to try. Good thing my models, Christy and Chantalle were game for it! Aside from that, I am preparing for a feature in a German fashion book and I hope this set makes it! I also had my other models and photographers organized to shoot the rest of my collection.

I hope you enjoy the set!

A Bit of the Romantique

It's almost Valentine's Day in my side of the world. How are you spending it? :)

Today I had a bit of time to shoot a new clothing from my newest sponsor, Choies. If you're interested about this shop, you could read my review about their service.

Collection

If you clicked the link, you would know by now that Choies has tons of styles to choose from! I found myself lost and unable to decide on what I would spend my 80$ credit from the shop. A couple of dresses that I wanted turned out to be unavailable. I went ahead chose the top I am wearing in the photos. The top is called Vintage Print Top with Lace. If you clicked the link, you would find out that there are close up photos of the top that pretty much tells you how thin or thick it is. However, I had a little problem with the sizing. I ordered small but wearing it, looks as if it were a large. I guess the top was meant to be worn loose.

Shipping

If I remember correctly, I ordered it in the first week of January. It was only around the last week of that month that my order was finally shipped. It took about a couple of weeks for it to arrive. I don't really know why it took long for it to be sent out, but I guess it still is holiday-related. That or maybe they have humongous shipment to deal with. XD

Overall, I am satisfied with the top I got from them. I might need to find or make a ruffley skirt to match it better. For now, I have my Romwe pleather skirt and Go-Jane crazy shoes to wear it with! Oh, if you're wondering, I have a tutorial for that flower crown I am wearing and here it is. :)

Alt Cramer Project Teaser

$

0

Awhile back I mentioned doing a feature for the German publication Alt Cramer. Yesterday we finally started the photoshoot. I was running around and instructing the models, so I really did not have time to get my own photos. Luckily, we had a group of professional photographers in our team! I am so excited to see their stuff!

A bit of info about these dresses since a lot of people seem to ask the same questions all over... XD
I designed and made the dresses and hair accessories. You could purchase them in my shop. You could also commission me for a new design or for one that is custom made for your measurements. You may email me here for more details. Some of the wigs worn by my models are my own and were sponsored by Gothic Lolita Wigs. Lastly, though I did begin as a Lolita designer, I am not confined to that style anymore. When I started making my own dresses, I realized how constricting it was to work under a particular style. Honestly, I just found the rules silly. In the end, I wanted to make something that makes me happy and it does not matter whether it was Lolita or not.

So there, and here are the few photos from that shoot. Please enjoy!

Fun Fact: Though Jessie's arm is hiding it, this dress was autographed by non other than Stan Lee!

This dress is for sale at my shop with a 30% OFF using coupon: Sophia30.
