Nevermore

Wow, I can't believe I haven't really posted about dresses that I make in here! I think it would be fitting to start with the Nevermore Dress, the first dress I made for 2013. Let me know what you think! This is available in my shop, by the way.

Could you believe I finished this dress in about 18 hours?
I made myself promise that in 2013, I would be making dresses thrice as complicated as my first collection was. I have wanted to push myself to the limit! But this dress, it was not really intended to be made yet. I rushed to make it because an event invited me to attend and judge an independent designer competition. With about 18 hours, more or less, I struggled to finish it.

Though it was made completely rushed, I still love how it turned out. I love it enough to take it apart and sew it more properly next time. My favorite would be the fully constructed bodice. It has damask voile as the fashion fabric, with layers of organza, interfacing, and polyester lining. Oh, I decided to add boning too! I just love how stable and structured it looks.

The easiest part to make was the skirt. It was made from the damask voile with organza and lining. The ruffle trim also made my job a lot easier! I think I will get more for my other dresses. The white beaded lace was something I had a bit of a hard time deciding. First, I had a part of me think that it's too white. Yet I could not bring myself to dye it cream with coffee/tea as the word "Nevermore" and some drawings in the print were white. Looking back, had I dyed it, I don't think it would have this effect that the white lace achieves in a black contrast. Color was not only the problem though. I had to spend about an hour thinking if I should just cut the lower lace or not. In the end, I did, but only for the vertical portion of the peplum.

If there was one thing I have been truly scared to do, it has to be invisible zipper sewn in between the facing and the actual fabric. I mean, it is easy to put it if you didn't have lining/ facing to think about. I am glad I took what time I had and figured out how to sandwich the zipper between the fabrics.

So there. I still don't have decent pictures of me in it yet, so I will skip that part for now. I made matching head accessories for it. I will try to dress up completely, when I have time, and do a black lipstick review.

What do you think of my dress?

So much has happened this weekend and I am just so...exhausted. I don't want this to be a rant post though, so let me present to you the second dress I made, complete with all the frilly goodness that makes it a set! It is a set commissioned by a brolita, a dear friend of mine, even. It consists of a dress, a collection of headpieces: big bow, mini tophat, and bonnet, a bunch of really cute extras: mini bows and toppings (icecream and bow buttons), and finally, a matching bag! If you want one or anything from this set for yourself, you could email me at: dolldelight@me.com. Prices are negotiable, and I offer payment plans (this set was paid that way). Also, these photos will be up at my Tumblr. If you like them enough, please do reblog them. It really helps to get my work out there and reach potential clients.

Yey! I've finally had time to update with outfit posts. :) For the outfit rundown, both my top and shorts were sponsored by Choies.

Funny woman shirt with detachable sleeves
High waist pleather shirts
Studded wedges: Jeffrey Campbell (a steal for 28$, it was originally 230$!)
Floral big bow made by me, but soon to be available in my shop!
Princess Wig in burgundy/blonde blend: sponsored by Gothic Lolita Wigs

How did you like my black lippie? I am making my first ever video review on it! I just need to wait for my new lighting equipment! :D

Spring with Coco Fashion

It's the first day of spring here in California and I am already looking at updating my wardrobe. Luckily I have found a shop that has a huge selection (we're talking about thousands here) of garments for such an affordable price! I have always heard about Coco Fashion so I finally decided to take a peak at what they have got to offer. Below are sets I have made with the theme of spring in mind.

Burstin' and Bloomin'

Spring is the season of flowers! Bright colors are definitely in trend. You could also choose to wear a flowy chiffon maxi dresses for a soft look. Not only is chiffon light enough to wear for a warmer weather, it is perfect for the beach too! Make the outfit pop with bursts of yellow and/or pink.

Comfy Cotton
While it might be unusual to wear black and grey for this colorful season, I think you could still pull it off with a cotton print dress. Laid back and comfy, you may choose to spice it up with some edgy  lace-up boots! Play with prints and top it off with this printed neutral shoulder bag.

Collar Cutie

Finally, my favorite set! With spring, shorts are in but make it extra cute by wearing jumper shorts. For the top, you could choose to wear light cotton or chiffon complete with a preppy collar. Ruffle details are both fun and feminine, so are lace-up flats! For this soft look, accentuate it with a dark leather shoulder bag.

So, what do you think? Did these photos inspire you for a wardrobe update? All the items featured here are available in Coco Fashion. Starting price is less than 10$!

Peaches and Creme

In the start of this year, I promised myself to start doing videos for Youtube. For me to really commit to it, I decided to get lighting equipment and I was finally able to use my brand new Diva Ring Light for this practice shoot. I am so happy how it is able to capture my make-up beautifully! Now I just need to learn a bit of Adobe Premiere Pro and then I am off to making tutorials for you guys! :)

I spent about 250$ for the equipment. You could say it's an investment.>_> I started saving up for it for about 6 months. What really helped me was the fact that I didn't need to spend on clothes anymore, all thanks to my sponsors! <3

For this entire outfit, we have:
IndressMe for the Chiffon Top
Romwe for the Tadema Painting Skirt.
Gothic Lolita Wigs for my blonde curly bob.

To match this outfit, I created a floral headband with lace and spikes. It would soon be available in my shop. :D

And yes, if you look closely, I did something different with my make-up. I've always wanted to do the blush on high cheeks but I always skipped it because I knew it would be hard to capture it in photos. XP But with my ring light now, it's just so easy-peasy! :D

Speaking of, I actually shot a video for a subscription review. I will have it up in a couple of days. For now, please enjoy a super duper sale from Romwe!

Oh by the way, here's a short tutorial for you on how I did my lips! I will try to do a full make-up one next time, but let me warn you that it takes me 45 minutes to do it. lol

Wow, could you believe it? I've actually made two consecutive posts from scratch! XD If you're wondering why I have been so suddenly able to do the amazing feat of updating regularly (well, sorta), it's because I've received my sponsored shoes one after the other! Yesterday I received and did the full package of photo and video shoot for my Max Star shoes review! Today I received my Belly Button Multi Strap Wedges from the online store, Jessica Burman. :D I am going to keep this short and let you jump onto the video review. But first, let me credit Romwe for my black dress, Gothic Lolita Wigs for my wig (ohhh, there's a dyeing story behind this as it was originally light blonde. I'll share my technique with you soon!), then of course, my headpiece, which was made by me! So there, onto the review. PS, watch it in HD! XD

Then of course, more photos! I will be uploading the sets of my 3 other outfits next time! :D

Garden of Eve II

Had the time to take better photos of my new dress, Garden of Eve today. I'm also fixing my store and adding this new product! Purchase here!

The fashion fabric is voile, with a polyester lining. The lace is cluny in ecru. It has two layers of skirt, a peplum and a gathered rectangle skirt. I wasn't able to take a photo of the inside but I included a built in petticoat made from soft tulle!

Also, I guess I am a little bit obsessed with peter pan collar right now. Expect my new dresses to have collars, and of course, bows!

The back is shirred. This makes it a more flexible garment in terms of size as it could be worn as size XS - M.

Aside from my usual ruffles, I added pintucks on the skirt and sleeves!

I will try to find time to model it. Maybe when I get the bag that I ordered. :) For now, here's another flash sale from Romwe!

DOLLUXE: Preview

I recently received my Dolluxefalse eyelashes!Dolluxe is the sister/baby company of Gothic Lolita Wigs and Rockstar Wigs. The lashes are designed by Charles Reger, whom I was fortunate enough to meet last Anime Matsuri 2012. The lashes are made in Vietnam but the company is based in Houston, Texas. If you would look at the designs below, you would see how Dolluxe aims at providing lashes for a variety of fashion genres - Lolita, Gyaru, and Glam, to name a few!

I am still working on my make-up tutorials where I would be featuring the lashes. For now, have a preview of all 8 styles from Dolluxe!

Even the packaging is so cute! It features the models of Gothic Lolita Wigs. On the back, you could read the instructions on using and removing the lashes.

Each pack contains 3 pairsof eyelashes and a generic eyelash glue. A 3 pack costs 25$ but these are always available in singles. Here are the actual lashes:

So pretty right! If you want to take a closer look, here are the individual styles and their names, really creative I might add:

This set is available as a .gif here, please reblog if you like! XD

So that's it for the preview! I want to get really creative and detailed when I finally shoot the make up tutorials for these lashes. Which ones are your favorite? Which ones should I review first? :D Also, don't forget to like Dolluxe's Facebook page! I am sure they would be holding several giveaways and deals so be on the look out. ;D

Dolluxe Adventures

Yesterday I blogged about the new lashes I got from Dolluxe. Today I finally gave in and tried the beauties!

I used #1 Lashing Out Loud and #8 UnderLash B. The lashes came with glue but I stuck with my Revlon Precision Lash Adhesive. I wore my Pretty Crystal Grey lenses sponsored by Pinky Paradise for this look!

I've used super long lashes before from Diamond Lash and these Dolluxe #1 Lashing Out Loud lashes remind me so much of Diamond Lash's Angel Eye. As for the lower lashes, I haven't really used Dolly Wink but just by looking at them, Dolluxe's Underlash #8 remind me so much of Dolly Wink #6.

Unlike Diamond Lash though, these lashes did not feel as frail when I had to remove them from the package. Usually I need to be extra careful removing the lower lashes (with a tweezer) because they had the tendency to get stuck to the pack and errr...fall apart. Dolluxe's weren't as flimsy and for the first time, I enjoyed putting on lower lashes! I could easily remove and reposition the lashes without fearing that some parts would get left behind. The lash band for both styles is thin and flexible but comparatively stronger compared to Diamond Lash.

I wore both lashes for about five hours today. I expected the upper lash to get in the way as they were so long but they ended up feeling comfortable! I could say the same about the lower lashes. I still felt that they were there but they weren't as heavy as Diamond Lash's Princess Eye, which I have worn before.

Overall, I had fun with my new lashes! These gave me a droopy eyes even if I didn't use that much eyeliner. These definitely would look awesome with a full gyaru look! Surprisingly, the length was not off so I managed to wear both lashes without needing to clip them. I am going to try and do my tutorial tomorrow with the other styles! :)

Wind Symphony

$

I finally got to doing my first ever transformation video!

I wore the kimono set I made ages ago, Wind Symphony. It has been sold to a very good client-model-friend so I decided to say my farewell and make the best reminder I could! I also took the chance to feature Dolluxe, the new lash brand I have been raving about

I wore Harajuku Honey and Underlash B. It's my second time to wear the underlashes but they still feel as strong! I would probably be investing on these instead of Diamond Lash Princess Eye. I've worn Princess Eye before and I just could not be careful enough in handling them. XD I only wear them for special events and I usually end up feeling too tired to properly remove them so, they only last for a one time use. I am definitely sticking to Dolluxe Underlash B!

As for Harajuku Honey, my only problem it is that it tends to look shiny/velvety in bright light. I guess since the design is wispy, the lashes do reflect enough light to make them shine. I prefer the straight to the point, spiky and spaced lashes like Dolluxe's Lashing Out Loud and Diamond Lash's Angel Eye.

I could not take good enough photos to show Harajuku Honey when worn, but if you watch the video I posted above, you could see that they resemble shironuri artist, Minori's lashes!

Wig from Gothic Lolita Wigs; shoes from Jessica Burman.

Both lashes were comfortable though and I did enjoy wearing them! I am going to be doing a gyaru transformation next as I need to part with the dress soon, too.

Anyway, what do you think of Wind Symphony? I do want to get back to making more kimono-inspired pieces but I already have a super looong list of things I want to make. XD
